Dam Sealer Application

Sealing your earth-based dam with our Water$ave Dam Sealers is quick, easy & DIY. Both sealers, Water$ave Plug & Water$ave Seep, have the same application method.

Before Application

A small amount a preparation before application will help ensure your application is in the correct area & the Water$ave Dam Sealer is at its most effective.

Location & Type of Leak

Knowing where your dam is leaking from can reduce over-application. This will assist in a targeted application, saving you product & money. Also knowing if you have a fast or slow leak will help you choose the right sealer for your leak. Not quite sure where the leak is or what type it is? Clear Obstructions

The clearer the path to the leak, the easier it is for the polymer to get pulled into the cracks & voids to seal them.  Weeds, reeds & other debris should be removed wherever possible.

Relocate Livestock

Where possible relocate any livestock during application. Livestock can possibly disrupt the polymers’ path to the leak. Once the polymer has settled, the livestock can be returned.

Do Not

Do not apply Water$ave while raining or windy. Rain will cause the polymer to activate & begin to expand before it enters the water reducing its effectiveness. Wind will cause an uneven distribution of the polymer particles, instead of the recommended even coverage. Apply on a clear, still day to ensure the best results.

Application

Water$ave Plug & Seep should be applied while the dam is actively leaking for best results, with a water level of at least 1 metre (3ft) deep. Water$ave is most commonly applied to the water surface by hand but a small hand spreader can also be used.  Don’t broadcast the product more than 2 metres (7ft) as this can cause an uneven application. Use a floatation device, such as a kayak or small boat, to reach the required area if needed. As you return to the bank cast the polymer behind you, as not impend its path to the leak.
