Snow
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What exactly is
D'ziner Snow? What makes it unique?
*
D'ziner Snow is a unique polymer bead in powder form. When mixed
with water it takes on the appearance of snow. This bead
is unique because
once it has been fully hydrated it has the characteristics of
snow.
Q. How is the best
way to make snow up?
*
To achieve the
best
results it is recommended that D'ziner Snow be mixed and stirred
in a clean container or bucket first and
then used for the desired purpose or effect.
Q. Can I sprinkle
it on my lawn and then spray with water to make it up?
*
It is
not
recommended that you make your snow like this unless the desired
effect you are after is a frosty look.
*
Using this method will result in a lot of powder going to waste.
Q. What uses does
it have?
*
Use D'ziner Snow to create exciting and novel effects, especially
"out of season" at Christmas time, for parties and just for fun.
Uses include:
* Decorating
entrances.
* Kids parties,
birthday parties, winter parties, snow parties, themed parties and
all sorts of fun.
* Shop displays.
* Creating
highlights at weddings and functions.
* Features at
parties, displays, trade exhibitions etc.
* Creating
special effects and snow scenes in films, movies, theatres,
concerts, photo shoots, advertising and promotions.
* Use for
hobbies and holiday fun.
* Decorating
buffets, used for carved ice statues.
* Dusting trees
and other features to create snow effects.
*
You can create attractive features by using sealed lights (eg rope
lights and led lights) in D'ziner Snow.
Q. How do you make
up D'ziner Snow?
*
Use clean tap water ( or rain water for best results) for a
measured amount.
*
One litre of water makes 1kg of artificial snow.
*
Add 3-4 teaspoons of powder to 1ltr of water, stirring
occasionally.
*
Snow is produced in approx 2-5 minutes, depending on the volume
that is being made.
*
The less water is used to make up snow, the drier and fluffier the
snow will be.
Q. How do I dispose
of the snow after use?
*
Once you have finished with your snow it can be shovelled, swept
or vacuumed up.
*
Because of its structure D'ziner Snow makes an excellent water
saver and soil conditioner for your gardens and plants, as it will
tend to retain moisture and nutrients, releasing them
to your plants as required.
*
D'ziner Snow is safe, non toxic and biodegradable.
Q. Will it stain or
smell?
*
No, D'ziner Snow will not stain and has no odour.
*
Once D'ziner Snow is fully hydrated with clean water it is 99%
water thus having no smell or taste.
Q. How long will
the snow last?
*
D'ziner Snow will dry out over time.
*
Outdoors
- D'ziner Snow changes its characteristics when exposed to UV
light and breaks down in a very short time. It is
advisable that if D'ziner Snow is
to be exposed to UV light then keep this period as short as
possible and then dispose of the
snow into the garden or lawns. It CAN NOT
be dehydrated and
reused once it has been exposed to direct sunlight.
*
Indoors
- D'ziner Snow will last several years as long as the product is
well looked after and kept free of contaminants.
*
D'ziner Snow can be frozen and carved to create statues, snowmen
etc. We recommend that you experiment with a quantity of
formulated
D'ziner
Snow before attempting any major or regular applications.
*
Please remember that water expands when it is frozen and this
could potentially damage the polymer beads which are the basis
of the product.
* D’ziner Snow may affect
painted areas. If using on areas that have been painted, please
make sure that all snow is cleaned up
after use.
Q. What if my child
or dog eats it?
*
D'ziner Snow is similar to what is found in babies nappies and no
harm should occur if swallowed by humans or animals.
*
The acid in the stomach will start to break down the gels and the
water is released into the stomach and the beads are passed
through.
*
D'ziner Snow is safe to handle, non toxic and biodegradable.
Q. How do I decorate
surfaces like trees?
*
Use a fine water spray to cover areas for decoration. Dust or
sprinkle D'ziner Snow powder over the area and then cover with
a mist of the
water. Spray to create artificial snow.
*
Snow may need to be sprayed several times to allow for the beads
to grow.
*
Trees will also need to be sprayed every day or two as snow starts
to shrink.
*
This method is effective but does use more of the product.
*
Another method that can be used is to make snow up firstly in a
bucket and gently place it or sprinkle snow onto the leaves of
the tree.
Q. It gets really hot
where I live, how long will it last in the heat?
*
The snow will not melt from the heat. It is UV sensitive and in
sunlight it will break down. This will look like it is melting and
can become messy.
Q. I want to cover my house/yard with it. How long will it last
outside?
*
D’ziner Snow is UV sensitive and will only last for several hours
in direct sunlight. It will look like it is melting and can become
messy.
*
We do not recommend putting D’ziner Snow onto your roof or any
painted surfaces.
* If affected by UV light and not cleaned up
properly D'ziner Snow may affect painted areas.
* It is also not recommended that D'ziner Snow
be put anywhere where you may have people walking, as in both snow
form
and melted form, D'ziner Snow like real snow, is very
slippery.
Q. Can I make a snowman or a snowball out of D’ziner Snow?
*
No you can not make a snowman with D’ziner Snow. These are beads
and can not be compacted like real snow.
* Snow balls can be made in the hand but will fall apart as soon
as they are thrown.
Q.
Will it harm my lawn?
* No it will not harm your lawn, as long as it is spread out and
not left in a large pile, and will work as a watersaver on your
lawn.
* If using large amounts outside on your lawn please try to
clean up as much as possible and then rake the remaining snow
through your lawn well.
* If you are planning on putting a large amount of snow down
then we recommend using a tarp to make clean up easy.
Q.
Can I snowboard/ski on it?
* Yes you can. We have several snow boarders who have used
D’ziner Snow for boarding. They generally use a covering that is
used for boarding on ice.
* It is a bead that will not hold weight when jumped on unless
you bring the temperature down to freezing, the same as snow.
* It is also UV sensitive so most snow board use is done for a
single event outside in the late afternoon or inside.
Q.
Does it feel icy/cold like real snow?
* D’ziner Snow does not feel icy. It feels only as cold as the
water that is used to hydrate it with. If hot/warm water is used
then
your snow will feel warm.
Q.
How safe is D'ziner Snow?
*
Naturally, Australians are not often exposed to snow in any form
so you need to exercise sensible safeguards to ensure you can
have FUN without placing you or others at risk.
*
The base component is similar to that found in a baby's nappy.
*
D'ziner Snow is safe to handle, non toxic and biodegradable. This
product does not bio accumulate and should never be
dumped into a landfill when finished with. D'ziner Snow
should always be placed into the ground as it is a great water
retainer
and will break down over several years.
*
D'ziner Snow won't stain sealed surfaces. But avoid placing on
untreated timber or other degradable surfaces, especially those
with a high degree of absorbency.
*
Do not leave D’ziner Snow on painted surfaces. If using D’ziner
Snow on or around painted surfaces clean up thoroughly as
paint may be affected.
*
It can be safely used as a decoration around food.
*
D'ziner Snow is non toxic and biodegradable thus making it non
harmful for use around children and animals. If swallowed
the acids in the stomach will start to break down the
beads allowing them to release the water and the bead will be
passed
through. D'ziner Snow should not pose any health or
medical problems. However you should never encourage deliberate
consumption of this product as any form of stunt or
competition.
*
Do be careful when placing D'ziner Snow in places where people
will be walking, just like real snow, D'ziner Snow is slippery.
Make sure that there is substantial traction in the
ground surface, and the area is not adjacent to polished or glazed
surfaces.
*
It is important that you exercise care in the location of D'ziner
Snow in any walkways. We recommend that as an alternative
you use D'ziner Snow as a feature beside walkways and
at entrances.
Q.
How do I reuse the snow?
*
To reuse D'ziner Snow a few factors need to be taken into account.
*
One is that the snow has not been in direct sunlight and is clean
( no dirt or contaminants). To be able to reuse it you will also
need to be able to store it in a clean, dry area
(container) and allow some time for the water to evaporate from
the beads.
*
The best way that this is achieved is by storing the made up snow
in large plastic clean garbage bins which can be purchased at
any department store like BigW and Kmart.
*
Once the snow is in the buckets they need to be left in a dry,
dust free environment.
*
If the container is sealed air tight then D'ziner Snow can stay in
snow form for many months.
*
If container is not sealed air tight the water will slowly
evaporate out of the beads over time and shrink. This process can
not
be sped up as the water needs to evaporate from the
bead at its own speed, this could take several months, depending
on a few
factors, such as storage, temperature and quantity.
*
Once the beads have shrunk you can add water to them again and the
snow will reform again.
Q. How do I store D'ziner Snow after use?
*
If D'ziner Snow has been looked after, is clean and has been
kept out of UV light, you can store it by placing it in a clean
pail
or bucket and sealing it.
Q.
Do I need any special machine or equipment to make snow?
*
No machines or special equipment is needed.
D’ziner Snow is easily made up by mixing the powder in with water
in clean
plastic containers or buckets.
Q.
Can it be blown with a snow blower or large fan?
*
No, as D'ziner Snow is 99% water when fully hydrated, it can not
be blown by fans.
NOTE:
If in doubt use a small amount of snow to test in an area that you
intend to use it.
